Art Nouveau Townhouse
This restored Art Nouveau townhouse in The Hague transforms a previously divided property into a cohesive private residence while recovering much of its original architectural character. The restoration reinstates wall panelling, architectural profiles and decorative ceiling roses, creating a historical framework for a distinctly contemporary home. Reclaimed materials, vintage furniture and contemporary art are layered throughout the interiors, while darker timber and rich finishes introduce depth and contrast. Original references coexist with unexpected details, including an 18th-century cast-iron bathtub sourced from a French château and a sculptural reclaimed staircase leading towards the attic studio. The result balances preservation and individuality, allowing the history of the house to remain visible without turning the interior into a period reconstruction.
