Bakhtiyar Serekeev (b. 1990) is a prominent contemporary artist from Nukus, Uzbekistan, representing the intuitive neo-expressionist movement of the Nukus school of painting. Bakhtiyar Serekeev was born on June 30, 1990, in Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan. Raised in an artistic environment by his father, a well-known Karakalpak artist, Bakhtiyar chose a professional path in fine arts. In 2013, he graduated from the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Fine Arts and Design in Tashkent, specializing in easel painting.
Throughout his career, Serekeev has actively worked within the cultural sphere, serving as a production designer at the Berdakh State Theatre and contributing to the Academy of Arts. Moving away from traditional academic realism, he developed a unique style rooted in intuitive neo-expressionism. His canvases are characterized by intense, saturated colors and powerful contrasts. Serekeev’s work explores the social and environmental transformation of his native region, the tragedy of the Aral Sea, and deeper philosophical themes of human connections and emotional duality. The artist actively participates in republic-level and international exhibitions.
