Morvi Palace
Morvi Palace in Gujarat, India, is an exceptional example of Art Deco architecture from the early 1940s. Designed by the architectural firm Gregson, Batley & King for Maharaja Mahendrasinhji of Morvi, the palace reflects the international influence of Art Deco interpreted through the context of Indian royal culture. The interiors are defined by strong geometric forms, elegant proportions, rich materials and carefully designed decorative details. Custom furniture, distinctive lighting, murals and artworks contribute to the character of the spaces. The result is a sophisticated dialogue between European modernism, Art Deco aesthetics and the artistic traditions of India.
